Facebook gives you the ability to make targeted ads get in front of the right people very easily. Using technology, voice recognition, peoples search history and much more getting your Facebook ads set up properly can ensure you get a decent ROI and the cost of Facebook ads can be a lot cheaper than you think. It is also a lot easier to set up and implement, there are only so many options you can choose when setting up paid ads on Facebook and is nowhere near as complex as you might think. So below is a video of me showing you all of the available options that you have available when setting up a Facebook ads campaign, you can follow suit and have your campaign set up in 10 minutes.
The thing about these Facebook ads compared to the advertisement on YouTube, for example, is how subtle the ad placement is. When you are watching a YouTube video you'll notice the majority of the time there is a 30-second ad that is skippable after 5 seconds and sometimes can't be skipped at all. Needless to say, lots of people hate YouTube adverts. Most people these days will download an ad blocker or will refresh the page until the ad disappears. What sets Facebook apart from this aggressive style of marketing is how subtle advertisement works throughout the site.
You may think it's just a coincidence that you were looking to buy yourself some new clothes and now throughout your Facebook feed you can see shops(even the ones that you just visited) appear showing you the latest offers and deals that they have in store. It is no coincidence it is technology at its best and it prompts people into action, I don't know how many gadgets I've bought after being targeted via Facebook and a lot of others are the same, they are impulsive buyers. Well, this is no coincidence, this is, in fact, the works of Facebook advertising. Below is an example of how a Facebook ad would look:
There are a few tell-tale signs that let you know its a Facebook ad.
  • First, the ad in my news feed has sponsored in small writing just above the ad.
  • Second is the ads on the right-hand sidebar of Facebook that also says " sponsored " just above them.
  • At lastly is the "create advert" option on the right-hand side.
These ads will appear in many different places throughout your Facebook feed. The ad, in this case, is classed as sidebar ads. These appear on the right-hand side of your Facebook feed, which takes the place of a white space. The other areas that you find Facebook ads include:
  • Inside the Facebook feed via Desktop
  • Inside the Facebook feed via Mobile
  • On Instagram
  • The audience on the mobile network(Inside Apps)

Facebook Advertising Step by Step Guide

Once you go to the "create an advert option" you'll see the dashboard above. Along the left-hand side is each of the steps you need to complete the set up for your Facebook ad.

Campaign - Objective

The first step is choosing what your ad is targeting. There are quite a few options here to choose from, each of which will affect what people will do once they see your ad. These objectives are broken into 3 main categories: Awareness - To make people interested in what you have to offer, you should select this option. Consideration - For creating an ad you want people to think about and further research. Conversion - This area is for creating an ad that encourages the user to carry out an action such as buying a product. You can read more about each of the options within these categories here

Advert Account - Create Account

You will have to create your ad account in the next step, fill in the details that you see, which are all fairly straight-forward. Next up is Choosing your audience. On the right-hand side, you'll see a meter that tells you how broad or specific your ad is. Under this is the details of your audience and the number of people that it could potentially reach. The default settings for this are pre-determined by the option that you chose at the beginning.
Below are each of the steps: Locations - The location section gives you a map layout to choose your locations. You can be really broad or specific here, it's entirely up to you. Age and Gender - This is the demographic that you are trying to target. You can choose between any age you want. Languages - You can leave it blank unless the language you are choosing is different to the locations native one. Detailed Targeting - In this section, you can really narrow down your market. You can select lots of different aspects that are all pre-defined by Google.
Above is an example of how many different options there are to choose from. Facebook shows you how popular each of these topics is and what demographics they will target. You can choose as many of these as you want to help target your ad. Connections - With this option, you can select your audience from people that have had specific connections to your page. For example, you could narrow it down to your page likes.  Anyone that has liked your page or friends of people that have liked your page could be your main targets. You can also choose to exclude these people if you would rather go after people that are unaware of your business.

Advert Account - Placements

Next up is where your ad will be placed. You can either choose the automatic placements or edit placements. The automatic placements option will select the areas that ads with that objective usually performs at it's best. I recommend you choose this one if you're completely new to Facebook ads, it will select the options that will be best for your budget without taking any risks. Edit placements, on the other hand, are best if you want to target something specific or you want to optimise for a certain result. Depending on which objective category you choose, certain options may not be available, this is something you'll need to consider before going through with your ad.

Advert Account - Budget

The Facebook budget section is where you choose what kind of money you'll be spending on the ad. Budget - There are both the daily budget and the lifetime budget option. The daily budget will be spent on your ad every day while the other will last for as long as you set the ad to run for. It's entirely up to you which you choose to do. The minimum amount that you can spend on the daily budget is £1.00. Schedule - Here is where you can set the date that the ad runs between. You can select a start and end date on the calendar or have the ad run continuously.
Once you decide to run your ad, Facebook will spend no more than your budget for the week. What this means is although your budget is set to a specific number, this is actually seen as an average by Google when they are dealing with your daily spend, with an increase of up to 25% available for them to use. This is used to help maximise your spend by capitalising on opportunities even if your budget doesn't quite meet the mark. This doesn't mean you'll overspend, however, Facebook will make sure to spend less on other days to ensure that it does meet your budget by the end of the week. The ads will never spend over the 25% mark that is given, so you don't have to worry.

Advert - Format

The format section is where you choose how your ad is going to appear. There are 5 different options for you to choose from as your base layout:
  • Carousel
  • Single image
  • Single video
  • Slideshow
  • Canvas
You can choose whichever one you want, just be sure to choose one that applies to the content you're adding. For this example, I'll be using the single image version. With this option, you can have up to 6 different photos for your ad at no extra cost.

Page and Text

On the right-hand side, you'll see a preview of how your ad will look and the left is where you make any of your changes. In this example, I am setting up an ad for a coffee shop. If you don't have any photos to use, there is a whole array of free stock images you can use. You can access Shutterstock's images directly from Facebook with a search bar available to help you find the images you need. Next up is the text for your ad. All of the information needed here is pretty simple, just make sure that your text is straight to the point and makes clear exactly what you are offering. There are a few extra features you can use in the ad such as a website URL and a call to action button. Like I mentioned previously if you are going to add a button you'll have to choose from one of the buttons Facebook already have. Once you're satisfied with the look and style, you can preview how your ad is going to look in the many different formats. Just click on the drop-down menu that is currently displaying "Desktop News Feed" and have a look at how all people will see your ad. That's you now ready to send your ad to Facebook for review. Facebook have to check your ad to make sure you are following the guidelines that you can read up on here. If you followed the steps I've shown here and haven't placed any spammy text in your ad then you won't have to worry about it being disapproved.
Click on the "Review Order" button to preview everything in your ad one last time and then place your order.

People you choose through targeting

This is the most important option with Facebook ads, ensuring your ad is promoted to the right audience you can pick various options such as:
  • Gender
  • Location
  • Interests, Job Titles, Fields of Study
So you can really hone in on people who are going to be interested in your specific ads, and this will convert a lot better than sending out your ads to random people who may not have any interest in your product or services.I can't stress enough how important the audience section is for Facebook ads, this is how you target an audience so ensure you try and test this until you get the best ROI you can get from your Facebook ads campaign.

Now here is how you can become even more targeted

So using the information you can become pretty laster targeted with your ads, as Facebook itself also uses voice recognition as well in order to serve people ads based on things they talk about. Yes, Facebook listens to what you have to say, ever had a conversation with someone about something and the next thing you know your being served a Facebook ad on that very subject. I guess some people put that down to a coincidence and refuse to believe Facebook listens to you via the app on your phone and serves you ads accordingly. Mark Zuckerburg himself tapes up his own camera and mic as seen in this article in the Guardian So with Facebooks inbuilt technology and your targeting options, Facebook pixel and everything else installed then you do have a fairly good set up going on. But you can actually target people using your mailing list, you can upload your mailing list to Facebook to serve ads to people who are on your emailing list or however else you may have got your hands on this data.
So how to action this, you will need to go to your Facebook Ads manager, normally you will need to click the top right-hand tab where you will find your general Facebook settings, then click manage ads and you will see a dashboard similar to the above. You are then able to create an ad and you will see an option on the left-hand side called " audiences " if you click on that you will see the following screen.
So you can then select customer file, and upload all of your email addresses here so that your ads are served to those people on Facebook, you are maybe thinking that could be a bit hit or miss and of course that could not work that well for you if you have a crap mailing list. So for those of you who have a crap list, then I have made another short video with an idea on how you can make that list a little bit better.

Summary

As you can see, creating a Facebook ad is really quite easy. The setup process does a good job of holding your hand through each step and gives you all the information you need to tailor the ad to your audience. It's now up to you to check your ads performance to make the most from your Facebook ads, you should regularly keep an eye on it to see what's working and what's not. From there you can make changes and your next ads will be improvements from your last. Practice makes perfect, now you have the basics it's time for you to start your own Facebook ad campaign it really isn't that complex and you can easily replicate what others are doing on Facebook ads.

As an SEO, it can be difficult to maintain everything that I do manually. In my case, I have hundreds of sites that need to be regularly updated with fresh new content as part of the many PBNs I own. This kind of work would be impossible to carry out alone on top of the other work that I'm required to carry out with clients etc. This is where SEO content machine come in, This tool makes creating content extremely easy and fast with good results.
SEO content machine is a tool that makes creating content extremely easy and fast with good results. Now don't get me wrong there is no magic quick trick here and with tools like these, it's all about how to use it effectively for your business which is why I'm making this tutorial. SEO content machine is actually pretty unique as you don't need any proxies or a VPS to run it, which helps keep those extra costs low. What it does is scans through hundreds of sites content, which is then spun into unique content for you to post onto your own websites.
In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how easy it is to use this tool and what steps you need to take so that you can let this automation take the stress of writing hundreds of articles away for you.

Set Up and Prices

First things First, it's time to talk about prices. SEO content machine has a few different pricing structures that you can choose from.
The free trial option lasts for 5 days and doesn't require you to fill out your billing information. What you do have to keep in mind however, is that you won't be able to keep any of your projects saved when you close the software with the free version. The next options are:
  • Monthly -  This will cost you $27 a month that will automatically bill you on a per month basis.
  • Yearly - With this option, you are actually saving a good bit of money with 3 months free saving you over $100.
  • Perpetual - This again lasts you for an entire year but it comes with a year worth of free updates.
Once you've chosen your preferred plan, you'll be sent an email with a username and password along with a link to the membership page where you'll find your download link.
After it's installed, you'll be prompted once more with a login screen, log in and SEO Content Machine start.

SEO Content Machine tutorial: How to generate content

SEO Content Machine is a program you can use to generate content, for any keyword and also in multiple languages. It also comes with a bunch of other content related tools to help you with the content manipulation and support for automated blog posting.
SCM is a very handy tool if you need content for link building software. You can use it to create 100s of pre-spun articles complete with images and videos.
The article generation is controlled by templates, a few exist already for popular link building programs but it means you can mold text into any format you need for importing into other link building tools.
For instance, it can generate both project template files and plain text article for import into GSA SER.
The tool comes with support for most of the spinning APIs out there, like The Best Spinner and Spinner Chief as well as support for French and Spanish article spinners. If you don’t have money for a paid spinner you can always use the built-in spinner “Soft Spin”.
Today’s tutorial, here, you will learn to:
Create an article complete with images, videos and contextual links
Control the quality & relevance of the content
Manage and update a private blog network
Import content into a link building program
Out of the box, the program ships with a bunch of premade export templates for programs like:
  • Article Kevo
  • AutofillMagic
  • Chimp Rewriter
  • ESpinner
  • FCS Networker
  • GSA SER
  • Lincorne AIO
  • Magic Submitter
  • RankerX
  • Senuke
  • Sick Submitter
  • Spin Rewriter
  • Spinner Chief
  • The Best Spinner
  • TurboWeb20 Submitter
  • Ultimate Demon
  • WordAi (Regular/Turin)
SEO Content Machine also has its own template editor so you can create output templates for other programs or for your own needs.

Setup Wizard

When you first open SEO content machine, a setup wizard will begin that helps take you through the process of creating articles. I highly recommend following it to help get a better understanding the steps involved.

Article Keyword

The first step is adding your keywords for SEO content machine to base your articles on. When you add your keyword, the tool will search for other related keywords using Google. You can change which country the search engine is searching from and language its using. As you can see in the picture above, I've made a search for the keyword “Car Insurance“. The list of keywords that show can now be selected with their checkboxes.

Article Settings

Here is where you set your articles length and layout.

Article Type - SEO content machine comes with loads of different content templates from other tools such as GSA SER and Ultimate Demon.
Article Quality/Content Mashing - There are two options here to choose from, Unique and Readable. The first will option will make your content extremely unique but its readability will suffer. Likewise with the readable option, your content will better for the user to read but it runs the risk of duplicate content. Now these options only apply to SCM's own spinner so this isn't too important as you'll see in the next section.
Paragraph Count - This is where you choose the number of paragraphs you want your article to contain. Each paragraph will contain 100 words so if you want a 600-word article for example then you select 6 paragraphs.
Paragraph Variations - The number you choose here is the amount of syntax variations there'll be in an article. The higher the number is here the more times you'll be able to use the same article without creating duplicate content.
Article Count - How many articles this project is going to create.
Article Save Location - At the bottom is where you choose a folder for the articles to be saved in.

Article Spinner

Earlier I explained the article quality could be split into either readable or unique. While this is true for the “soft spin” that comes free with SCM, there is a whole list of 3rd party content spinners that you can use.
I highly suggest that you use a better content spinner than soft spin as the end result isn't the best. I would recommend using one of the others such as WordAi or SpinnerChief. These spinners do come at a cost but they will give you the results you need to effectively use this tool. Once you have your content spinner you need to click on the "Enter Spinner Logins". Here is where you can add your login credentials for the spinner to work correctly with SCM.

Insert Images + Videos

This one is pretty self-explanatory, you can choose the amount of images and videos that feature in your articles. This helps add a bit more weight to your content which search engines like to see over text-only articles.

Contextual Links

Next up is adding links to the articles. Clicking the "add link" button will throw up the menu that you see below.
The box on the left-hand side is where you add your link and the one on the right is the anchor text you want to appear for your links. You want to add as many variations here as possible to keep your articles unique.
After you've filled that out, you can set how often generic anchor text will be used such as "click here" and "visit our site".
This is yet another variation that you should look to include in your articles to further the number of variations you can have.
Lastly, you choose the insert link settings. This involves where you want the links to placed and how many per article. You don't want to spam your articles with too many links as it will most likely result in your articles being marked as spam by Google. Likewise, the placement of your links should vary so that no easily detectable pattern is occurring.
That's the basic setup done using the wizard and you can go ahead and click finish to start generating the articles. Once your project finishes you'll find the articles sitting in the folder that you assigned them to.
As you can see, the 6 articles that I created are sitting in the new folder. From the preview, you can see that they have been saved in syntax form. This is because I choose the GSA SER template in the setup wizard, however you can change this and make even further tweaks to your project in the advanced settings.
If you head to "content tasks", you should see your project. Opening this up will give you plenty more options to play around with.
This gives you an entire overview of your article creator, allowing you to make any changes and further improve the articles. At the bottom is the "Export" options and as you can see the folder is set to spintax. This is why our past articles were saved in this form, clicking on this dropdown gives you the option to switch it to no spintax or even change it to pdf. There is a row of tabs at the top you can through that will take you back to each section, each with a bit more available to change such as the sources that SCM will use when creating the article.
Content Tools
Another nice feature that SCM has is the ability to use each of the tools individually instead of creating a full project.
There's a good number of tools here that you can use here including image and keyword scrapers and an “about me” page generator.

Creating an article

To generate an article, click on the Article Creator task menu item.
Here is an overview of the steps you need to take.
  • Input article keywords
  • Select quality of content, such as Unique or Readable
  • Input any word filters
  • Select a spinner
  • Pick source of content like ezinearticles.com, articlesnatch.com, buzzle.com, etc.
  • Select image/video insert options
  • Customize links you want to insert
Click on “Add Task” to start the content generation. A handy thing with saved tasks is that they can be also scheduled to run as many times as needed.
If you don’t have a paid spinner, “Soft spin” will work adequately. If you are having problems with getting content indexed, you can try a paid spinner like The Best Spinner or WordAI to improve the uniqueness and readability of the final output.

Adding a contextual link

You can insert links into the created content automatically. Under the Article Creator links tab, are a variety of link insertion options.

Output content

The software will then fetch content sources. This is how it looks when running:
In case you run out of battery or lose electricity while running, the app will resume once you get back. When you are multitasking and leave it running in the background, it gives a notification if done. When completed, you may inspect the output articles.
Here is an output article without Spintax:
This one has Spintax and contextual link:
The output content may not be in perfect English but you give it some finishing touches. It is good enough for tier 1, 2 or 3 or money sites.

Exporting output content to SENuke and Sick Submitter

For the SENuke campaign, you just have to specify SENuke in your Export format.
Clicking OK saves the articles and SCM will open a window with all the articles inside. The articles are ready to be imported to SENuke.
You can generate articles for Sick Submitter and GSA as well. For Sick Submitter, the article format includes a title, summary, body, resource, keywords and categories.
Hence, any software that allows import of articles, you can create a template to export to in SCM easily and this has to be a good feature as it makes the tool work with practically every link building app. SEO Content Machine is a flexible tool with lots of useful features.

Article Downloader or Scraper and Bio or About Me generator

Another way to create an article is SCM’s Article Downloader. It likewise allows use of more than one keyword. For instance, “skin care” and “how to make skin smooth.” You can input keywords, URLs to scrape from and article sources.
The Bio or About Me generator allows generation of various contents for “About Me.” It allows you to insert links as well.
About Me sample:

Publishing files

SCM has a tool that allows publishing of articles to blogs or Word Press. From the main menu, go to Blogs Manager by clicking on the left arrow at the upper left corner.
Then add your WP blog site and input details.
Import articles.
Select Import blog folders.
You can apply finishing touches to the articles. Then save changes and post.
Here is the published article:
SCM is easy to use with an easy-to-understand interface which gives more control over what content to create and spin. It is among many people’s preferred tools for auto-generated content, which saves a lot of time as it can add photos, links and videos, as well as import data with just a few clicks. SCM is a money saver software that helps with content creation, backlinking, SEO and drawing traffic for websites.

Conclusion

This tool can definitely help take some stress of your workload. If you have hundreds of sites that need content then a tool like this is the perfect option to keep those sites populated with content. However, this is still a content creation tool that isn't going to provide you content as good as a human copywriter could so for your money sites(client websites) I wouldn't recommend taking this shortcut.
Pros
  • Easy to use Interface
  • No proxies required
  • Create and save multiple projects
  • Project Scheduler
Cons
  • Does require external Spinner for effective results
  • Can't set up alerts for when a project finishes.
At the end of the day, my opinion on this tool all comes down to what you are using it for. For those smaller less significant site's you have, this tool is the perfect time saver. As long as you don't get lazy and use this kind of software for everything you write, then it's worth the purchase.

There are lots of tools out there that allow you to search for expired domains, some of which are really outdated while others give you completely inaccurate information. Domain Hunter Gatherer isn't one of them, this tool has a great search feature that integrates with lots of industry standard tools so that you get the right metrics you need for each domain. There are multiple entry levels for this tool each of which include different features. There is a domain marketplace first and foremost with the option to upgrade for web 2.0s searches and high-quality aged domains.
Pricing
Since I've already talked a little bit about the different features there is I'll start with the pricing for each of those. There are 3 options for you to choose from:
Free - This gives you access to the domain auction marketplace. It gathers a bunch of domains from lot's of different auction sites and it gives you a good amount of metrics on each domain.
Premium - This one will cost you $17 a month and comes with the ability to search for web 2.0s and cost price domain names. It can be done via keywords or by crawling sites of your choice, you can also search using multiple threads for faster and larger search results.
Professional - The top package coming in at $87 per month has all features bundled into one. With this one, you get access to a list of high-quality aged domains under the $10 mark. You can crawl high authority domains and have access to dom recovery which is a great tool for taking website files from the Wayback machine to recover sites from expired domains.
If you give the tool a try and find that it isn't for you, each of the paid options has a 30-day money back guarantee.

Settings

Once you've installed Domain Hunter Gatherer, the first place you should go is to the settings section.
This is where you can add your proxies and integrate Domain Hunter Gatherer with other tools. Let's take a look at the proxies.
Proxies
You can split your proxies into separate groups, primary and secondary. Adding proxies is very easy, all you need to do is copy and paste them into the box like it's shown in the screenshot above. The format for the proxies is:
ip address:port:username:password
If your proxies don't come with a username and password then you can just add the ip address and port number. Another option is to add the proxies by uploading a simple text file. You have the option to refresh your file as well which is useful for proxies that change on a regular basis.
Once your proxies are added click on the test button to make sure they are working correctly. Next, is choosing what your proxies will be used for. There are 4 options here:
  • Auction Searching
  • Quality checking
  • Searching
  • Expired domain and Web 2.0s Checking
This is where the separate proxy options play a role. You can have one group of proxies do one of these tasks while the others are dedicated to another. I personally keep all of the proxies as the primary to mix all of them up, however if you'd prefer to designate certain proxies to certain tasks it's something you can do.
API Settings
To make the most of Domain Hunter Gatherer you can integrate with a few different tools to give you loads more metrics on each domain. All of these tools will have what is called an API key, if you have an account with them you can get this API key and place it into DHC.
Dom Detailer API - If you have a pro account then you are given 50000 credits for free. If not then you can buy this and add an API key. Dom detailer can pull metrics from Moz and majestic for each domain. This tool is essentially an alternative to using your Moz and Majestic API key. If you already pay for these tools then you don't have to bother with Dom Detailer.
SharedCount API - This account has a good free plan so is definitely worth signing up for. This will give you better results in the domain auction.
ahrefs API - You will only really benefit from this if you have a paid account. The free account does offer an API key but the features are very limited.
Moz API - Moz has both a free and paid account. Once you've signed up for one of those you'll have access to an API key.
Majestic API - This is similar to the ahrefs API. If you have a paid account the results are going to be so much better than the free version.
Each of these tools has a test button to make sure that your API key is working correctly. Once you've tested all of the tools you should be good to start using it.
The next section you should go to is the "advanced settings"
Here you can choose how the tool is going to run. Increasing the number of threads DHC will use will make the tool carry out more tasks at once, which in turn makes it run faster. Now the default settings are good to use as they are but if you have an extremely fast machine or a fast dedicated VPS then you could increase the number of threads without any issues. If you are using an average laptop or pc then I wouldn't recommend changing the number of threads.
The next step is choosing words that you don't want the bad words which you can see it is the next thing you have available for you to choose.
Bad Words List
The bad words list is where you can stick any kind of words you don't want to find on the websites that DHC pulls up. There is a default list there that I suggest you use as it contains quite a lot of words that are spammy and most people wouldn't want to be associated with.

Domain Auction Hunter

With all of the settings out of the way, it's time for you to start looking for domains. We'll start with Domain Auction Hunter.
Starting a search is really easy, all you do is enter your keywords in the search bar, separated with a comma.
Once your search is finished you'll see a list of domains. The first step you should take before looking at any of them is clicking on  "analyse domains". This will bring up a window like the one above, here you can choose the different metrics that you want DHC to find on each domain.
Once you've analysed each of the domains you can now start to look at the metrics. First off you will see there is a good amount of spam in some of these domains. If you right-click on any of the tabs, you can select what metrics show and which don't for a more organised view. A few I would consider the most important are:
  • Age
  • Google indexed
  • Majestic TF/CF
  • MOZ DA
In the domain marketplace, there is a price attached to each domain. There are a few different ways you can buy the domains, there is a 'buy now', bidding and an auction price.
Getting domains with this method is by far the most expensive way of doing it, but if you have the budget there and are smart enough about it, then you can definitely pick up some high-quality domains at reasonable prices.

Expired Domains

Now, this method is how you find domain names that have expired, costing you only the initial registration fee. Domains expire all the time. Businesses go under, people forget to renew and a lot of people out there don't understand the power that some domain names hold.
This is where this tool comes in. You can sweep in and grab some really great domains that have been left at cost price.
The search feature is the exact same as the "domain auction hunter", enter your keywords and DHC will do the rest.
Once the list of domains show, you will want to analyse them again to get all of the metrics that you need. Each of these domains are all cost price and clicking on it will take you to the registrar for you to go ahead and buy. This is why when you find a good domain, you need to act fast. If you wait a couple of days before buying it then there's a good chance someone else will grab it.
Looking for good quality expired domains requires a little more research and work than the auction, but that is what you pay for with the marketplace. If you put the right amount of work in, you can find really great domains at a fraction of the cost compared to the auction marketplace.

Web 2.0 Hunter

The next feature on DHC is the web 2.0 Hunter. Now if you don't know what a web 2.0 is let me explain. These are domains that act essentially as a subdomain to a bigger site. So for example, everyone knows the websites Twitter, Blogspot, Tumblr. Well, every account on these sites has their own unique URL, which can carry a good amount of power. If someone has been posting great content to Blogspot for a couple of years and eventually give it up. That domain will still hold the authority that blogger once had, so why not use it for yourself.
Looking for Web 2.0s is again the same process, type in your keywords and DHC will start searching.
Once that's done, analyse the domains and you can start looking at the URLs. If you find one that you like the look of, click on it and what you should see is a 404 error.
This means that the account is no longer in use, so you can go and grab it. Head to the main homepage of the platform that the account is on whether that is twitter.com or tumblr.com for example. The process isn't the same for each platform to see if a username is available, some will require you to create an account first and others will let you check availability straight away.
So in this example, you can see the process is very easy. One thing to note however is DHC isn't always 100% accurate, there have been a few times that I have checked a username that DHC have said is available but is in fact already been registered. This isn't to say though that there aren't some great ones available, you just need to take the time required.

Conclusion

Domain Hunter Gatherer is up there as one of the best for finding expired domains. Its integration with the best research tools paired with it's easy to use search functionality makes it accessible to beginners as well as experienced SEOs. You can find plenty of websites out there that will search for expired domains, domain marketplaces or web 2.0s but this comes as an all in one package and using your own proxies along with selecting your research tools allows for DHC to be far more tailored to your needs.
